"Dare To Bare 2002," a skinny dipping event held at Obelisk Beach in New South Wales, has
raised over $12,000 for Charity.
About 40 Australians convinced friends, family and coworkers to sponsor them for the skinny dip. The "Dare to Bare" tag is so labled as many are skinny dipping first timers.
Cash raised went to the
Fred Hollows Foundation, a non-profit organisation which restores eye sight to those
blinded by cataracts in underdeveloped countries.
Organizers say 80% of blindness in the world is avoidable. Restoring someone's sight can be done for as little
as $25.
Designed to challenge Skinny Dipping First Timers "to be seen so others can see," the annual event topped last year's
donations by 30%.
