Love Parade

If you're into techno and freedom of expression, the Love Parade is for you!

Normally held in Berlin, this year's Parade is located in Essen in the formerly Western Germany. While not specifically a "gay" parade, Germany's Love Parade embodies all the quirky eccentricities of German culture: Amazing floats, intense dance parties, leather, nudity, fetishism, sunburns (bring your spf 30!), beer and at least one accordian! The parade celebrates internationality, peace, tolerance and, of course, community.

Though it was first introduced as a moving dance party, it has, over the years, become synonymous with sexuality and freedom of expression, and, as such. you never know what you might see! World-class artists are always in attendance to keep the crowd moving and the event is strongly geared towards the electronic music fan (don't expect any acoustic sets). The parade is loud and full of energy and completely free!

Bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a camera (you really should share your photos with us, you know!) and there are plenty of food vendors along the way so you don't have to worry too much about bringing bagged lunches. Essen is like any other city in Germany, so book your hotel in advance and make sure to exchange enough Euros!
