In the last few years the Rangers have erected posts on the beach to mark off the wind screen area from the non-windscreen area. You can find these a few yards back up from where the lifeguard stands are. At least this keeps a good section of the close-to-the-water area screen free.

The wind screens are a major pain in the ass on weekends especially. You get your regulars there with their Rolleez carts just loaded with equipment as early as 7:00. They then would put up these hugh tent cities up close to the water blocking any sight of water for anyone arriving after them.

I'm sure most people who go to the beach, myself included, go to get out of the heat of the city, relax on the beach and catch the nice breeze blowing off the ocean. These tent people should just set up shop in their own backyard....or at least way back in the dune area, and give everyone access to the water. You rarely see any windscreens on any other section of Sandy Hook (clothed section, that is).

I'd like to hear the viewpoints of windscreen users. Mainly any post you see anywhere on this issue is always anti-screen.
