: I've notice that many, many of the people at Gunnison Beach have tent-like walla (what are they called?) erected around them, which stand several feet high. Some of these people are positioned very far back from the water and all alone, so only the wall can be seen. Do most people set up these walls so they can have sex behind them? Is this common? Or do they simply not want to be seen by anyone? I'm curious as to whether I'm jumping to conclusions.
It's a very odd...very "American" thing to do at nude beaches. If you travel to Europe and visit nude beaches, you seldom see such screens...that is, unless you are visiting the North Sea (Germany, The Netherlands, etc.), where it is very often windy. The screens you see at Gunnison have more to do with privacy I think that they do with wind or sex (though, if that's your thing you will find that at the back of the beach by the dunes). It's really annoying (not to mention rude) to plop down your stuff in the front of the beach and put up an elaborate wind screen so as to block everyone's view of the ocean.
If you ask me, they ought to ban that crap...unless it is truly a windy day.
