: I just got confirmation from 2 seperate reliable sources (NAP customer service people) that although the official NAP web page said to "Bring Your Cameras" to the Saturday event, VIDEO cameras will be BANNED on Saturday, for us $50 ticket holders...
: How much the $1000/seat people will block our $55-$60 view of the Showgirl and Amateur Stages on Sunday remains to be seen. Video of the main Showgirl stage on Sundays has been banned for several years.
Art: To let people shoot on Saturday is a good idea and long overdue. I never could figure out why they wouldn't let me take a few pic's on Saturday as long as I stayed out of the way. You're only going to shoot all those girl's on Sunday anyway. One thing I'd be worried about though. It says you can shoot from 11-5PM, there'll be booths set up, etc. Those magazine shoots used to take an hour or so with some more one-on-one shooting in the back parking lot or other locations around the camp. If it was a hot day the girls would then be lounging poolside the rest of the afternoon. Are they all going to devote 5 hours to the photographers who sign up for the bonus shooting? What happens after 2 hours and they want to swim instead. In past years its not like hundreds of people would show up Saturday afternoon to shoot, more like dozens. I guess we'll see how things change.
As far as the $1000 seats go, I think I'd pass on that. A 1-2 hour backstage pass and a front row seat at the Wet- T? The rest of the package is garbage. Transportation from the parking lot to the show area? In what, a golf cart? Although I'd like to be able to go behind the fence for some shooting, there's really no need. I found the best way to film the Wet-T contest is to show up late, stand high up on the sides and use your zoom. And anyway, the best action is on the grounds anyway.
So in closing...Maybe these new ideas how to generate money has something to do with advance sales. With the price of gas these days maybe advance sales are off. I know I was going to head up there this year after a few year layoff but I'm rethinking that plan. It's around an 800 mile trip for me. So if you go, I'll be waiting for your report....and some pics, of course.
