Not to get too political here, but I wouldn't automatically assume that it's ONLY the ultra-conservatives that are behind this. I've found that often those that support more government involvement (or "big government" as they say), which tend to be liberals, are just as guilty. Many conservatives, or libertarians at least, want government out of their lives and not involved with things like this. And while I know California has its share of both, it's not like it's Kansas we're talking about here. I wonder what this Parks Director's affiliation is?

: Well, it's official. I had to see for myself. This weekend I dropped by San Onofre. Upon entering, you see at the guard station entrance a new white sign - "Nudity is Prohibited". At trail 6, where all the nudies park, you see the sign posted again near the parking lot, then the sign is posted one more time where you descend down to the beach.

: I talked to some locals that tell me they will allow nudists to enjoy the beach most of this summer, but will begin to ticket after Labor Day.

: I've learned the one that is spearheading the prohibition against nudity is California State Parks Director, Ruth Coleman.

: : The upside:
: : Pirates is still active. Blacks is still active. More Mesa and Gaviotta are still active.
: : SloTimes

: : : I hope it isn't true...

: : : Over the years, we seem to see more and more nude beaches come under the harsh control of ultra-conservatives that want their constituents to see them as the moral majority.

: : : California nude beaches that were once a mecca for full nudity but ultimately killed by anal conservatives:

: : : 1. Venice Beach
: : : 2. Point Dume
: : : 3. Pirates Cove (one near Palos Verdes)
: : : 4. Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara
: : : 5. Rincon Beach in Santa Barbara
: : : 6. South half of Blacks Beach (San Diego City portion)

: : : And now...

: : : San Onofre near San Diego?

: : : Here's an article on it:
: : : http://beach.freedomblogging.com/2008/05/30/state-cracks-down-on-san-onofre-nude-beach/

: : : Anyone know if this is *really* going to happen? Say it's not true!!!
