There was also an interesting segment of a cop wrongfully beating up a guy with other cops demanding that the guy videotaping the episode turn his camera and film over to the cops. The narrator stated that cops nor other authorities cannot lawfully confiscate such tapes as the guy videotaping the escapade was within his legal rights to do so, and that anyone can videotape or take photos in public places.

If a tape becomes needed evidence for whatever reason, tapes can be seized through subpoenas, but due process must first occur, ergo, a cop can't simply walk up to someone and rightfully yell "gimme your film!". This of course doesn't mean they don't do that.
