We did not set a deadline in the beginning because we wanted to see how things would go. Maybe a deadline is what we need!
So I'm going to set a deadline of September 1. DVDs and tapes mailed to us have to have a postmark before that date. Uploads to our ftp have to be before that date.
We have received a few submissions, but they are not likely to be winners. Right now Cemor and USA-1 are going to get the prizes unless we get some better stuff!
We have lots of material for clips, but they are not part of the contest. Eg. Mediterraneo, Fiveyes, and the sample clips from our DVDs are not in the contest. Next week we will mark which clips are in the contest.
I know you folks reading this have tons of video sitting around at home. I know it is a pain to dig up, and look at again to make sure there isn't anything on the tape you don't want made public. BTW we do check for that kind of thing and are very discrete about it; we check back with the contributor before posting anything. We know it is a pain to pack it for mailing etc, or to make a DVD from it and then mail THAT. OR digitize it and then upload the giant mpeg file to our ftp directory. What can we do to make it worth your while?
OK... if you send us stuff and we get just one usable clip out of it, you can have your choice of 12 DVDs or 20 full-length downloads. And we will mail you back your tapes with the DVDs.
If you know how to digitize your video to your computer, then you can burn a DVD using Toast, or whatever. Maybe you have shoftware that can make a conversion to MPEG. The thing to do is to break the footage into about 5-minute chunks and compress them full-size (640x480 ntsc or if PAL it is 720 by 576) Your data rate should be over 1000, maybe up to 2000. The size might be about 100 mb, so it will take a while to upload. You could cue a few of them to upload overnight.

In september we will put all the competing clips on one page and let members vote.
Can you imagine how much NAP video footage is out there? Come on you guys! Send us some of it. Someone must have shot at Mardi Gras in the last year or two. You can even go to the beach or outdoor location with your GF and you can shoot each other. There are lots of possibilities.
