I go topless at 10th Street whenever I'm there (a few times a year) and never have any problems. Sometimes I'm the only one topless and sometimes other girls will go topless also.
The clothing optional idea is a great one, especially if it's at a time when the place isn't terribly busy (ex. weekday afternoons) and might like the idea of attracting more customers. Can someone who's a regular take the leadership on this and keep us informed? In the meantime, I'd recommend that any guys who go with a wife or girlfriend urge them to go topless from the start, even if nobody else is. You can be certain that a few others will join in after a few minutes, making topless more and more ordinary and therefore more and more acceptable. Also, any single women reading this - please know that topless is legal in NY and you have a right to take off your top if you so desire. Spa 88 is a more uptight place, but I really don't think you'll get a hassle at 10th Street - at least I haven't so far. Let's just do it as often as we can - the shock value will disappear and our boobs will be accepted for what they are - just another body part.

PS - last summer a few of us sunbathed topless on the roof sundeck a number of times, and never had any problems there either, even though staff members were in and out regularly.
