I've been to Pirates Cove (a.k.a. Avila Beach) several times over the past year.
There is certainly a much lower ratio of males to females; however, males still dominate. It is usually about 70% male amongst the nudists, although the if you looked at the clothed bathers that come it's a pretty even mix.
Like many southern California beaches, this beach is infected with the gawking chollos. these are the hispanic men that come in groups of about five wearing slacks, leather shoes and long sleeve shirts, or, having the gang look. They pace up and down the beach gawking at the nude women. The do not come to enjoy sunbathing or the beach, but will often perch themselves on rocks in view of nudist females and stare...I believe you know the type.
The crowd can get upwards of over 100 on a good weekend.
The reason I love this beach is its in a rocky cove that reminds me of some of the most beautiful beaches in the Carribean. The waves are gentle, and there is a splendid hike to the beach from the parking lot passing near a large cave that opens to both sides of the cove.
: That used to be a great beach with fine swimming when the water warmed up. I haven't been there in a few years though and they were constructing a subdivision on the cliffs behind the beach then. If you go, let us know the status.

: : : Don't know Blacks but Little Beach gets a nice mix of folks. Gays tend to take up the last quarter of the beach on the far side. Pretty much everyone goes nude or at least topless. On Sunday at sunset is a huge party every week with lots of hippies coming out of their dens.
