The Folsom Street Fair has to be biggest fetish and leather event in the known universe! The yearly fall outdoor event is as much a part of San Francisco as cheap burritos, and at least as spicy! Vendors, performers, exhibitionists, sadists, masochists, transvestites, and voyeurs with video cams mix in a giant soup celebrating deviance. Mere public nudity is not shocking enough as the novice visitor soon discovers.

Strut Your Kinky Stuff!
The city closes off a long section of Folsom Street and a few cross streets between 7th and 12th. A wide assortment of vendors and demonstrators as well as several stages and dance areas move in and turn everything into pure kink at it's best. All the creatures of the night come out into the sunlight squinting, not wanting to miss out on the fun.
You can get your ass whipped while 50 people watch the red welts grow. You can get tied up and hang upside down until your eyeballs pop out. Fun! Hang around long enough and you will see random "perverts" perform things on the street that would get them 5 life sentences in Kansas. And in this place, at this time the police is there to make sure no one interfers.
We love it.
Set up to promote acceptance of alternative everything, FSF is put on each year by a strong team of directors and volunteers. The proceeds go to charities in the Bay Area. If you want the best access to all of the madness you should contact the organizers about volunteering. Besides the backstage passes there are other great perks to helping make this event run smoothly. The after parties that take place are extremely hard to get into, and this is your surefire ticket to the front of the line!
San Francisco is bustling with tourists this time of year. Between Pride week and the temperate weather there's no doubt that you'll need to book in advance.
